Abstract

In the address he made to the meeting celebrating the fortieth anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, Comrade Jiang Zemin emphasized that we must "persist in integrating planned economy with market regulation," and that "to weaken continuously or even negate a planned economy in order to set up a market economyâthat is not going to work in China; it will surely bring chaos to our economic life and entire political life."
