Abstract

Central bank digital currencies (CBDC) as emerging tools in international monetary systems have a high potential to increase financial transparency, reduce transaction costs and promote monetary security. Considering the economic and political necessities, the implementation of the digital rial in Iran requires a detailed examination of its technical, economic and institutional dimensions.
