Abstract

This paper explores the characteristic of 13-15 years aged population unattained in a formal school system and estimates its determinant. Giving much attention to investigate some possible factors mediating between household's resources and child schooling. The 1992 Susenas data were used to test the model. The study concludes that poor human capital endowments of the parents are associated with the likelihood of the children unattained the formal school system. The interrelationship between the parental human capital and the children education attainment were primarily mediated through household's economic factors. It is suggested that school enforcement, which was implemented since 'PJP II', must be targetted to children who are living at households which were isolated from public facilities.
