Abstract

This paper is an attempt to show some issues in the established theories and policies in the face of recent developments in economic relations among nations, especially with respect to monetary and trade. Development of the world economy has been characterized by increasing interdependency. among nations in the midst of increasing uncertainty. In the mean time other structural changes have been emerging, namely the dichotomised development of the monetary and the real sectors of the economy, and the emergence of the "global finance"phenomenon. These developments have some impacts on the analitycal as well as predictive powers of relevant theories. People question the ability of some macroeconomic theories in providing some guidance to the society resolving different problems to be faced. Since to be viable economic theory and policy have to be able to propose rational solution to problems, these issues become a challange to economic profession.
