Abstract

The discussion of the demand for money is ussually refered to Monetarist and Keynesian and the analysis emphasizes on macro-economic concept.. Instead of using such method, this article is conducted in micro one. The approach used, utilizes the budget line concept to derive demand for money. In this approach money is specified as "Commodity money," so the analysis exactly the same as it is applied to a common commodity. The slope of the budget line indicates opportunity cost of consuming certain commodity or holding money. In other word, with given income, consumers are allowed either to consume a certain commodity or to hold money, or a combination of the two.
