The Behavior of Interest Rate and Its Impact on the U.S. and World Economy

Abstract

Sebagaimana diketahui, kebijaksanaan moneter Amerika Serikat menjelang tahun 1980-an telah lebih memperburuk perekonomian dunia yang tengah dilanda resesi. Melambungnya tingkat bunga di Amerika Serikat dan nilai dollar AS yang tinggi telah mengakibatkan mengalirnya modal uang ke Negara tersebut. Sedangkan, bagi negara-negara lain sebaliknya terjadi penyusutan sumber-sumber keuangan, di samping tingkat bunganya pun turut meningkat. Terutama bagi negara-negara sedang berkembang, di mana teiah terjadi krisis liquiditas. Akibat kebijaksanaan moneter yang membebaskan tingkat suku bunga tersebut baik bagi perekonomian Amerika Serikat sendiri dan dunia menarik untuk ditelaah kembali, sehingga di masa yang akan datang penetapan kebijaksanaan serupa itu dapat lebih mempertimbangkan semua faktor yang berkenaan dengannya.
