Demand for Gasoline in Indonesia

Abstract

Minyak bumi merupakan bagian penfing dalam perekonomian Indonesia, dengan sumbangannya lebih dari duapertiga pendapatan devisa. Akan tetapi, sebagaian dari pendapatan tersebut dipergunakan untuk mengimpor kerosine dan bensin, yang disebabkan Indonesia baru mempunyai fasilitas yang mencukupi untuk memproses minyak mentah menjadi produk-produk minyak. Di pihak lain, dengan pertumbuhan GDP per kapita yang secara real cukup tinggi maka konsumsi domestik produk-produk minyak bumi juga meningkat, yaitu sekitar 12 persen per tahun. Peningkatan konsumsi yang tinggi ini diperkirakan karena produk-produk minyak di Indonesia hanyalah sekitar 42 persen dari tingkat harga di pasaran dunia karena disubsidi dan juga karena penggunaan teknologi yang lebih banyak menggunakan energi.
