The Socioeconomic Position of Indonesia in the Third World

Abstract

Suatu study yang dilakukan oleh "Research Institute for Social Development" PBB di bawah pengarahan Donald McGranahan (1972) telah menetapkan ukuran kemajuan dengan 73 indikator "socioeconomic"dalam 10 bidang utamanya. Dewasa ini ukuran tersebut dikembangkan menjadi 120 indikator yang mewakili 6 kategori sosial dan 6 kategori ekonomi. Berdasarkan ukuran kemajuan yang ada tulisan ini melakukan perbandingan posisi Indonesia di antara kemajuan 96 negara-negara anggota Dunia Ketiga, yang dalam telaahannya mempergunakan metode "Wroclaw Taxonomic." Dengan bantuan suatu teknik pengelompokan diperoleh gambaran secara relatif kemajuan dan ketinggalan Indonesia dalam kategori sosial, yaitu bidang perumahan, demografi, pendidikan, kesehatan dan nutrisi, politik, dan budaya. Demikian pula, dalam kategori ekonomi yang meliputi sector tenaga kerja, industri, perdagangan, transport, dan komunikasi. Posisi Indonesiadiantara Negara-negara Dunia ketiga yang lain beragam dari sector ke sector.
