Abstract

Dalam kurun waktu 13 tahun di bawah pemerintahan Orde Baru, para penguasa moneter paling tidak tiga kali berkesempatan untuk memainkan peran yang menentukan daiam usaha memuiihkan kembali kestabilan ekonomi Indonesia. Kesempatan pertama terjadi dalam tahun 1966 sewaktu kebijaksanaan moneter dan kredit dipergunakan untuk mengendaiikan hiper-infiasiyang diwarisi pada saat itu. Kesempatan kedua terjadi sewaktu laju inflasi melonjak kembali antara tahun 1972 - 1974. Kesempatan ketiga terjadi sewaktu inflasi mengancam kembali segera sesudah Kenop -15 diambil
