Abstract

In his comment on my article (see Ekonomi dan Keuangan Indonesia, Vol. XXV No. 3, 4 September 1977, pp. 271-276), Mr. Syahruddin made a strong statement to the effect that my model is incorrect because it is completely different from the model of CoaleHoover and Demeny. It is surprising that he took the similarities between my consumption function and the function used by CoaleHoover and Demeny to be an issue, when actually this docs not matter at all. The validity of the prediction of my study depends in part on the closeness of the consumption function in estimating the consumption patterns for the population of Indonesia and not on whether the function is the same or not with the above consumption function.
