Abstract

Paul Demeny once said that: "In traditional societies fertility and mortality are high. In modern societies fertility and mortality are low. In between there is demographic transition”. Today, the Demographic Transition Theory which holds that industrialization is a necessary condition for the attainment of low demographic balance is pretty well discredited. Other factors not related to the industrialization process have been found to be of crucial importance to changing the determinants of the demography of a country
