Abstract

This article presents several main thoughts of the author's doctoral dissertation concerning the political value-system in Indonesia and its implications on economic development. On the assumption that Indonesia social structure is still fewdalistic in tvhich leaders have a strong influence upon the attitude and the behavior of the population, it can be said that the priorities and the concerns of Indonesia's leaders give general shape to societae action. In such a context, it is possible to investigate what type of leadership and ivhat values of the leaders will hinder or promote economic development.
