Business Relations Between Indonesia And Japan: A View

Abstract

Japanese investment, particularly as directed through the multi national corporations (MNC's) has come to occupy a large and even increasing role in countries throughout the world. However its significance is particularly important in the ASEAN region where the Japanese national strength could increasingly lead to possible conflict with domestic aspirations and objectives. The countries in this region have experienced that their relationship with Japan, determined to date through a series of ad hoc policies is not satisfactory. What is now required is a through-going assessment of the prevailing situation as a basis for the formulation of a long term policy which will enable us to meet these MNC's as a strong host, directing their activities along lines consistent with the achievment of predetermined goals of development.
