Abstract

The labour force survey is based on a sample and not on a complete count. The households to be visited and interviewed in the different areas are those selected at random. Based on the results of the household interviews, estimates are to be built up for the different Provinces and ultimately for the whole of Java. It is obvious that the results obtained from the survey will be subject to sampling errors. Besides sampling errors, there Avill he non-sampling errors also arising from Avrong interpretation of the questions, defective interviewing etc. In order to reduce the two sources of error, accuracy in carrying out the survey is essential prerequisite.
