The Specific Competencies of the Economist in Colombia, by AFADECO

Abstract

The Colombian Association of Faculties, Programs and Departments of Economics (AFADECO) has recently published the Reference Framework for the Specific Competencies of the Economist in Colombia (2023). This document is intended to serve as a conceptual guide so that undergraduate economics programs can reorient their graduate profile in accordance with Decree 1330 of 2019, issued by the Ministry of Education for the granting of qualified registration, and Agreement 02 of CESU (National Council for Higher Education) for high-quality accreditation. Beyond compliance with regulations, however, this reference framework concisely presents the meaning of the economist's professional practice, which is valuable for encouraging new high-school graduates to pursue economics programs.
