Liberalismo económico y liberalismo político en el pensamiento económico francés del siglo XVIII

Abstract

French economists during the eighteenth century defend in their works the principles of liberal economics. Paradoxically, forwards political liberties, their attitude was, in some cases, sheer antipathy. This attitude contrasts sharply with that of their contemporary English economists whose works reveal a close unity between commercial and political liberties. Certain features of the evolution of French monarchy, perhaps, allowed the economists of this country to look upon political absolutism as the ideal instrument to achieve commercial liberty.
