Abstract

This research aims to analyze the commercial activity for sustainability in the businesses that exist in Bahía de Caráquez. A sampling technique was applied to determine the company name of the businesses, which contributed to defining the existing activities being developed. The observation method identified the current situation in the local businesses and the descriptive statistical method, which allowed identifying the types of business activities. Stores accounted for 11.8%, small dining rooms and fast food for 17.2%, and hotel companies for 6.5%. Tax contributions as an existing government policy and its level of compliance were analyzed, where 50.5% of active businesses have Internal Revenue Services of Ecuador (RUC), 2.2% have Voluntary Incorporation Regime Services of Ecuador (RISE) and 20.4% of the cases were informal. The REDATAM software detected the correlation of the selected variables, and the results showed that agriculture, livestock, forestry and fishing, which represent 16.38%, are the main economic source contributing to the sustainability of the canton.
