Abstract

Deák Ferenc elsősorban jogtudós és államférfi. Bár nemzetgazdaságtannal mint szaktudománnyal tüzetesen nem foglalkozott, 1. jogalkotóként szembesült a törvények és jogszabályok közgazdasági tartalmával, állást foglalt gazdasági összefüggéseikkel és kihatásaikkal kapcsolatban, 2. államférfiként több lényeges gazdaságpolitikai kérdésben nyilvánított megfelelő érvekkel alátámasztott, határozott gazdasági világképet tükröző véleményt. Közgazdasági kérdéseket főként munkássága első felében vizsgált közvetlenül. A reformországgyűléseken a földbirtokviszonyok, az úrbéri kérdés, a hitel, a kereskedés, a közlekedés, s ezen belül is a vasútpolitika ügyében fejtette ki véleményét - döntően a jogalkotás és jogviták részeként. A tanulmány ezen túlmenően két fontos gazdaságpolitikai témában, a német vámszövetséghez való csatlakozás és a védegyleti mozgalom kérdésében mutatja be álláspontját. Különösen érdekes a Védegylettel kapcsolatos magatartása, ahol a nyilvánosság előtti érvelése - mérlegelt politikusi állásfoglalás alapján - eltér a magánvéleményétől. Pályájának csúcsán, legnagyobb hatású korszakában, a kiegyezés körüli időkben, a gazdasági kérdések közvetlen kezelését már szakértő tanácsadói végezték.* Journal of Economic Literature (JEL) kód: B10, N13.
