Abstract

Domestic works cover the daily tasks, such as cleaning, laundry, cooking, in exchange for money besides the own house of the worker. While women mostly undertake these services, domestic works have different characteristics in comparison with the other business lines. This study examines the fundamental problems of domestic workers in Turkey, such as the black economy, working without social security, low payment, irregular working hours, and job dismissals from the perspective of worker’s health and safety as well as job security issues. For this aim, this study will analyze the puzzle by conducting in-depth interviews with domestic workers, try to diagnose and offer solutions to their problems.
