Exploring Quantum Annealing: A Pathway to Quantum Computing

Abstract

With the second revolution of Quantum, a race has begun in the field of Quantum computing all over the world. With today's technology, quantum computers based on quantum mechanics have started to develop with baby steps and continue to develop with giant steps. While pure quantum computers are developing, "Hybrid" computers that can perform faster calculations using the statistical data of Quantum Annealing are ready to immediately solve the problems that classical computers solve in long processing times. Quantum annealing has begun to be used intensively with the developed methods (Ising Model, Binary Quadratic Model, Quadratic unconstrained Binary Optimization). For this purpose, companies such as D-Wave, IBM, Rigetti, Qilimanjaro have concentrated in this field. The solutions of these companies (D-Wave's Dimod, Networkx, etc.) contribute to development. On the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Turkey, which was entrusted to us by Ataturk, the need to write this article arose to raise awareness about quantum computing and quantum annealing in Turkey. It is thought that the aim of research in the field of quantum in the near future will be to develop software based on quantum annealing for industrial applications that require solutions. The issues discussed in this article have been compiled from sources widely referenced in the literature. Quantum computing and Quantum annealing, their structure, how they work, which solution platforms there are, their advantages and limitations are explained to the reader.
