Abstract

WThe problem of the minorities’ status in the European Union represents a research topic still less analyzed in Romanian historiography. Usefulness lies in deepening the clarification of concepts like "minority", "national minority", "linguistic minority", etc. and the establishment of certain criteria and scientific methodological approach to minority issues. Our contribution in this article consists in presenting the evolution of historical, sociological and legal concerns regarding the fate of the people belongs to national minorities, summarizing the achievements, butalso the failures of this development in European area.
