Abstract
The increasing demands of the banking sector have intensified the need to understand the role of work-life balance in shaping employee attitudes and organisational outcomes. Work-life balance refers to the ability of employees to effectively manage professional responsibilities alongside personal and family commitments, thereby reducing role conflict and enhancing overall well-being (Greenhaus & Allen, 2011). In highly structured and performance-driven environments such as banks, imbalance between work and personal life can lead to stress, reduced efficiency, and lower levels of employee engagement. The present study investigates the impact of work-life balance on organisational commitment and job satisfaction among bank employees. A quantitative research design is adopted, with data collected from employees working in public and private sector banks. Standardised measurement scales are used to assess work-life balance, organisational commitment, and job satisfaction. Statistical tools including correlation and regression analysis are employed to examine the nature and strength of relationships among the variables. The findings indicate a strong positive association between work-life balance and both organisational commitment and job satisfaction, suggesting that employees who experience a healthier balance tend to exhibit higher levels of loyalty, emotional attachment, and satisfaction with their jobs (Allen et al., 2013). The study further highlights that inadequate work-life balance contributes to burnout, absenteeism, and decreased organisational commitment, while supportive organisational practices such as flexible work arrangements, leave policies, and employee welfare initiatives significantly improve employee attitudes and productivity (Kossek & Ozeki, 1998). These insights emphasise the strategic importance of integrating work-life balance policies within human resource frameworks in the banking sector to enhance employee well-being and organisational effectiveness.
