The Impact of AI on IT Sector

Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has become a transformative technology that is reshaping the Information Technology (IT) sector by improving productivity, automation, cybersecurity, and decision-making. This study investigates the impact of AI tools on IT professionals, focusing on their adoption, benefits, challenges, and influence on IT operations. Primary data were collected from approximately 100 IT professionals and managers across the districts of Sirsa, Hisar, and Fatehabad, Haryana, using a structured questionnaire. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistical techniques. The findings reveal that 69% of respondents have already adopted AI tools, while 78% reported improved productivity and operational efficiency. ChatGPT emerged as the most widely recognized and frequently used AI platform. AI tools were found to significantly support coding, data analysis, report generation, software development, and cybersecurity applications. However, concerns regarding AI-generated bias, ethical issues, data privacy, and potential job displacement continue to influence user perceptions. The study concludes that AI is transforming the IT sector by enhancing organizational efficiency and innovation, while emphasizing the need for responsible AI governance, workforce upskilling, and ethical implementation to ensure sustainable adoption.
