IoT-Enabled Smart Inventory and Supply Chain Management for Pharmaceutical Products

The pharmaceutical industry faces persistent challenges related to inventory management, supply chain transparency, and counterfeit drug circulation. This paper presents a Smart Drug Inventory and Supply Chain Tracking System leveraging Internet of Things (IoT) technology to address these issues effectively. The system integrates IoT-enabled sensors, temperature monitoring devices, GPS tracking, and cloud-based data analytics to ensure real-time updates, secure data storage, and seamless monitoring across the pharmaceutical supply chain. Temperature sensors maintain optimal storage conditions to preserve drug efficacy, while GPS trackers provide real-time shipment location data, ensuring transparency and timely deliveries. The novelty of the proposed system is that it will monitor the live location and temperature of the storage room in real-time, enhancing the quality and service for the customer. Additionally, cloud-based platforms centralize inventory data, facilitating better decision-making and minimizing manual intervention. Automated alerts notify stakeholders about low stock levels, environmental deviations, or delayed shipments, enabling quick corrective actions. Experimental testing of the proposed system demonstrates significant improvements in inventory accuracy, reduced drug wastage, enhanced shipment visibility, and minimized risks associated with counterfeit drugs.
