Los vínculos entre el crecimiento económico y la salud

Abstract

Tradicionalmente se ha planteado que el nivel de ingresos de un país determina sus condiciones de salud; sin embargo estudios más recientes demuestran que esta relación opera también en sentido inverso, es decir el nivel de salud tiene un efecto en el crecimiento económico. El impacto que puede tener la salud en el crecimiento económico ha sido analizado utilizando diversos canales. El presente trabajo analiza los vínculos que existen entre los cambios demográficos y el crecimiento económico, los vínculos entre el estado de salud de los trabajadores y el crecimiento económico, los vínculos entre las enfermedades transmisibles, el turismo y el crecimiento económico, y los vínculos entre la salud, la pobreza y el crecimiento económico. En este sentido se pretende ofrecer una marco de referencia que nos permita analizar las interrelaciones entre el estado de salud de una población y el crecimiento económico. Se resalta la importancia que puede tener el estado de salud de una población en el desempeño económico./ Traditionally it has raised the income level of a country determines their health, but more recent studies show that this relationship also operates in reverse, ie the level of health has an effect on economic growth. The potential impact of health on economic growth has been analyzed using various channels. This paper analyzes the linkages between demographic changes and economic growth, the linkages between the health of workers and economic growth, the links between diseases, tourism and economic growth, and linkages between health, poverty and economic growth. In this sense it aims to provide a framework that allows us to analyze the interrelationships between the health of a population and economic growth. It highlights the significance that the health of a population in economic performance.
