Determinantes del comportamiento de la industria maquiladora de exportación en México en el periodo 1990-2005

Abstract

Hoy en día la actividad maquiladora sigue representando una actividad de enorme importancia para el país, un alto porcentaje de inversión extranjera directa llega ahí, la maquila sigue siendo una fuente de empleos importante, contribuye con un alto porcentaje en el total de exportaciones y la actividad económica de algunas zonas del país dependen de ella. El presente trabajo tiene como propósito determinar cuál ha sido el comportamiento de la industria maquiladora de exportación en México en el periodo 1990-2005, mostrando qué factores contribuyen en dicho comportamiento. Existen diversos enfoques teóricos para abordar la función de exportación, la mayoría de ellos concuerda en que las exportaciones que realiza un país son determinadas por el tipo de cambio real y por la actividad económica del exterior. Por lo tanto, para este estudio retomaremos esta relación de comportamiento./ Today in day the activity assembly plant continues representing an activity of enormous importance for the country, a high percentage of foreign direct investment arrives there, this industry continues being an important source of employments, it contributes with a high percentage in the total of exports and the economic activity of some domestic areas they depend on this activity. The present work has as purpose to determine which has been the behavior of the industry export assembly plant in Mexico in the period 1990-2005, showing what factors they contribute in this behavior. Diverse theoretical focuses exist to approach the export function, most of they agree in that theexports that carries out a country are determined by the real exchange rate and for the economic activity of the exterior. Therefore, for this study we will recapture this behavior relationship.
