Flying into the Future: Perception and Readiness of Indian Farmers towards Drone-Based Agriculture with Reference to NTR District AP

Abstract

This study examines the perception and readiness of Indian farmers toward the adoption of drone-based agriculture, an emerging technology aimed at improving productivity, efficiency, and sustainability. Using a descriptive and analytical approach, primary data was collected through structured questionnaires and analysed using statistical tools such as percentage analysis, correlation, and regression. The findings indicate that farmers generally have a positive perception of drone technology and recognize its usefulness in enhancing farm operations. However, factors such as high cost, lack of technical knowledge, and limited awareness act as major barriers to adoption. The study concludes that farmers’ readiness is strongly influenced by perceived usefulness, trust, and institutional support. It highlights the need for training programs, financial assistance, and policy support to promote the effective adoption of drone-based agriculture in India.
