Döviz kurlarının öngörüsünde stokastik oynaklık modelleri

Abstract

Gelişmekte olan piyasalar, göreceli olarak düşük işlem hacmi, ekonomik ve politik istikrarsızlık, yasal düzenlemelerde yapılan sık değişiklikler gibi nedenlerle, gelişmiş piyasalara göre daha yüksek oynaklık sergilemektedir. Bu tür ekonomilerde, finansal varlık fiyatlarındaki oynaklık, filitreleme kullanılarak tahmin edilebilmektedir. Bu makalede, Kalman filtresi kullanılarak logaritmik normal stokastik oynaklık modelinin, Hamilton filtresi kullanılarak ise ikili rejim değişken stokastik oynaklık modelinin döviz kurlarının tahminindeki başarı performansı incelenmiştir. 01/01/2004-25/07/2007 tarihleri arasındaki günlük ABD doları/Türk Lirası döviz kuruna ait zaman serisi kullanılarak yapılan analiz sonucunda, her iki modelin döviz kurlarının kısa vadeli tahmininde istatistiksel olarak başarılı olduğu, logaritmik normal stokastik oynaklık modelinin tahmindeki başarısını uzun vadeli öngörü için de koruduğu belirlenmiştir. Makale, Türkiye’de döviz kurlarına ait veri kullanılarak söz konusu modellerle karşılaştırmalı ampirik analiz yapılan, bilgimiz dahilindeki, ilk çalışma olması açısından orijinallik taşımaktadır.
