Abstract

Because of its importance and numerous applications, the selection of the best supplier from a pool of accessible suppliers is gaining importance across the world. To reduce the cost of supply chain and to improve the quality of the products, selection of a relevant supplier has become one of the crucial decisions. The objective of this study is to utilize analytical hierarchy process (AHP) in the environment of interval type-2 fuzzy (IT2F) to deal with the ambiguity and vagueness in the problem of supplier selection. A real-world application is also carried out in this study to exhibit the efficacy and effectiveness of the proposed IT2FAHP model. According to the research, the most crucial elements that are effective in selecting suppliers are cost, responsiveness, ability, and reliability. Based on these factors, the most effective supplier has been selected in this study. The result shows that the IT2FAHP model is quite similar with the models in literature.
