The importance of public authorities control in order to respect the human rights in armed conflicts and peacekeeping operations

Abstract

State control of public authorities with responsibility for human rights is important for these rights and the fulfillment of the obligations assumed by states through international treaties to which they are party. Some states, although not signatories to international treaties or conventions are obliged to respect, to protect the rights of their citizens in situation of armed conflict and peacekeeping operations. Consolidated democracies must attract new partners to apply the principles of public international law. Romania has a major interest in alliances or coalitions participating inside, to protect themselves from external aggression but also to help develop a broad framework for the protection of fundamental human rights principles. National interest is crucial in protecting the citizens of its own borders but also to have the resources to ensure commitments to external partners
