Promoting Competitive, Connected And Low-Emission Mobility In The European Union

Abstract

For the European Union, transport and mobility represent vital elements for the economic growth and the wellbeing of its citizens. These objectives are reflected in the large range of policies of the European Union that have a decisive influence on this sector. The success of the European Commission priorities regarding the Energy Union, the Single Digital Market and the labour agenda, the economic growth and the investments are contributing to the development of the transport and mobility sector. The Energy Union Strategy has identified the transition towards a transport sector that is energy efficient and decarbonized. According to the objectives assumed by the Investment Plan of the European Union, the investments in infrastructure are offering a powerful incentive for the development of a “clean”, connected and competitive mobility. The following paper aims to evaluate the European Union initiatives on mobility and to analyze the benefits that their implementation will bring to EU citizens.
