Abstract

According to the estimates from the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) published its Report from March 2016 -"Oilseeds Prices", in the 2014/2015 season, the average quotations of the main types of flours have decreased at all types of protein flours compared to the season 2013/14: the soybean meal (403 $ / tone; -24.4%); the cottonseed flour (335$ / tone -19.5%); rapeseed meal (269$ / tone; -16.7%); sunflower meal ($ 269 / tone; -14.6%); fishmeal ($ 1,632 / tone; -1.7%). According to the USDA report, the production, the consumption and the international trade of protein flours, worldwide, highlights the dominance of soybean meal with weights about 70% of world production and consumption of flour, over 75% of international trade and over 82% of final stocks. Following the soybean meal and afar, it is situated the rapeseed meal, with 13.5% share of the world production and consumption, about 7% in the of international trade (6.8% in export and 7% in import) and 3.2% in the final stocks and the sunflower meal, with shares of 5.3% of world production and consumption, approx. 7% in international trade (export import 6.8% and 6.6%) and 7% of the total stocks in season 2014 / 2015. These 3 types of flours concentrated 88.8% of the world production and consumption, approx. 88.5% of the protein meals world trade and over 92% of total stocks, at the end of the 2014/15 season. The main factor that contributed to lower prices for flour protein was maintained at a high level of the global surplus, estimated at over 6.6 million tons. Since the 2011/12 season, the global balance has had a surplus of protein flours, registering increases of its balance in most producing countries.
