Abstract

The article presents the development of the world coal market during 2010, projections for 2011 and also the main factors that influences the evolution of coal prices on the international market. The increase of China’s demand for energetic coal, the flooding of some coal mines in Australia, the increase of coal transport costs, the decrease of global coal supply are factors that have led to an increase of coal prices on international market in 2010. The forecast for international coal prices is that the upward trend will continue in 2012 as well.
