Self-help group (SHG) is an effective and systematic model, which emphasises the community development of socio-economic status and lifestyle of rural area women driven by ongoing process of socialisation. The SHGs approach also promotes the entrepreneurial activities among the women in rural areas. The current study was conducted in Karnal district of Haryana, India. The sample size for this study was 160 SHGs members, which is selected from 40 SHGs. The main objective of this study was to measure the socio-economic status of SHGs members with references to bank-linkage activities, living conditions and livelihood activities. In present study, the maximum participation was shown by newly formed (2014-2017) SHGs, which are working under NRLM and HRLM. The data was analysed using SPSS 20.0 software. The results of present study have indicated that the SHGs members had improved their lifestyle and uplift the socio-economic status in the society after joining the SHGs.
