A study on the corrosion process of gas pipeline applying grey dynamic model

Abstract

The corrosion process often shows uncertain and complicated dynamic system behaviour, and it is difficult to determine all factors that influence the system. Moreover, in the corrosion trend testing of gas pipelines, the corrosion depth and speed are two important valuation indexes. The dynamic relationship between the corrosion depth and speed is very intensive, but a definite explicit or implicit function to describe it does not exist. In this paper, we developed a reliable model of corrosion depth with the corrosion speed as a leading indicator using a grey dynamic model based on grey system theory. We verified the effectiveness of the proposed model through using the corrosion depth of a gas pipeline in a natural gas well from the corresponding experimental data of the corrosion speed.
