Abstract

This paper traces the developments that have led to the evolution of Agile Manufacturing (AM) paradigm. Subsequently, a model called Total Agile Design System (TADS) is proposed to link modern product design infrastructure with AM principles. The practicality of Computer Aided Design (CAD) phase of TADS was explored in an electronics switches manufacturing company. The CAD models of the existing as well as the new switches were presented to the competent personnel of the company. Their feedback indicated the practical feasibility of driving agility in organisations for enhancing competitiveness using digitalisation and CAD modelling principles.
