Abstract

The purpose of this study is to explore the relationship between the effectiveness of the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) scheme and enhancing women empowerment, so as to overcome socio-economic challenges. A survey and interview method were used to collect primary data from 376 women belonging to the self-help group. The research was conducted in Hooghly District, West Bengal. Factor analysis was used to interpret the results. The results showed that there is a positive and significant relationship with women empowerment. The study is giving a realistic and reliable picture of the effectiveness of the NRLM scheme for empowering rural women through financial, training and marketing support, thereby adding novelty to this research.
