Abstract

Maintenance practices have emerged as key enablers for manufacturing industries to realise competitive advantage in the global competitive marketplace. The present study presents a phase-by-phase maintenance implementation methodology for all relevant maintenance practices in the Indian small and medium enterprises (SMEs) for achieving sustainability. Options field methodology (OFM), options profile methodology (OPM), analytic hierarchy process (AHP), and fuzzy set theory (FST) have been deployed in strategic modelling for development if this integrated maintenance framework. After performing survey, several input maintenance practices and output measures related attributed have been enumerated. Business performance-related challenges have been turned into options, which are then divided into six clusters using OFM. Maintenance practices implementation dimensions concerns have been translated by OPM into eight profiles or courses of action. AHP methodology has been deployed to compute the weights of different profiles created by OPM. Finally, FST technique is used to rank clusters generated using OFM approaches.
