Abstract

Web technologies that have evolved over the past few years, and open source products in particular, provide reliable, low-cost and well-documented software for implementing systems for the exchange of information among manufacturing enterprises. A model for applying these technologies to the production and exchange of complex documents is proposed, and an application of this model for the preparation and distribution of product quality certificates is described. By using extensible style sheet language transformations, the model enables partners along the value chain to combine information from two or more sources in ways that are best suited for their purposes.
