Abstract

Watermarking algorithms are used to make medical images resistant to tampering. Such algorithms are able to detect and localise the tampering and even recover the original image. In this paper, a new perspective is established for the ranking of the tamper localisation and tamper recovery algorithms. A multi-criteria decision-making model is introduced based on the performance criteria of such algorithms, and the fuzzy analytical hierarchy process is used for ranking of the algorithms based on the introduced model. The performance criteria used for the ranking include the peak signal to noise ratio (PSNR), the bit rate required for the reconstruction of the image, success in localisation, capacity, and the maximum size of the region of interest that can be recovered. Results show which algorithm is more successful than other algorithms in tamper detection, localisation and reconstruction of the image.
