Abstract

The application of Cost of Quality (COQ) in organisation is the key approach towards producing price competitive quality product. The COQ may be generally divided into three categories: Prevention, Appraisal and Failure (PAF) costs, or the so-called PAF model. This study attempts to identify the allocation of quality cost and improvements achieved from the application of COQ in Malaysian manufacturing industry. Mailed questionnaire was sent to 100 companies in the automotive sector. Our study provides encouraging results by indicating that the automotive and supportive industries in Malaysia are in the right track towards improving their organisation performance.
