Abstract

Theoretical part of the article defines the concept of leadership and talks about leadership with regards to guidance, motivation and impact on human resources. The empirical part of the article is based on a model of 20 managers and 145 policemen. Authors wanted to determine whether the managers are more focused on human resources or work when performing leadership tasks. Findings established that the managers' assessment of their own leadership style contradicts the assessement by their subordinates. Managers believe that their approach is more human resources-oriented; whereas the policemen believe that their managers are more work-oriented in their approach to leadership.
