Abstract

Integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into the supply chain is thoroughly examined in this article, with an emphasis on how it might be used in the aviation industry. A search across reputable databases, including Scopus, Web of Science, Emerald Insight, and IEEE Xplore®, was used to choose the literature for analysis, resulting in a substantial collection of papers. Historically AI has focused on security and technical contexts. A new trend shows that it is now having a greater impact on supply chain operations. Research finds a significant imbalance in the distribution of studies, with the aviation industry receiving significantly less attention. This situation may be related to the efforts being conducted in secrecy by aviation and defence organisations, which prevent wider publication. Future research initiatives could be focused on closely examining the point at which the supply chain of the aviation industry intersects with artificial intelligence.
