Abstract

Power industry has been identified as one of the largest polluting industry, owing to emissions caused by burning of fossil fuels. The research study is focused on the power companies of Punjab to examine the deployment of green practices in the implementation of green supply chain management (GSCM) and analyse their impact on environmental, economic, and competitive performances. Data were collected from Punjab power companies and used to test the research hypotheses. Factor analysis was used to examine the construct validity while regression was used to test criteria validity. This study presents one of the earliest efforts on the subject of GSCM implementation in Indian power companies. The impact of GSCM implementation reflects itself in three forms, i.e., environmental, economic and competitive performances. The study has clearly deduced that government regulation is the only driver that yields affirmative results for all the three types of stated performances. In contrast, the factor green awareness is not strongly associated with any of the dimensions of performance aforesaid.
