Abstract

The globalisation of markets results in economic and demographic development generating exponential energy needs, which increase global consumption of butane. Transportation is quite costly. Maritime transport is the logical consequence of a sales contract and a charter contract. The optimisation of butane transit must consider these two contracts. The complexity of transit operations and the conflicts of interest require better organisation, strategic choices and measured orientations. However, the performance level of stakeholders logistics chain impacts on the overall performance of the port. The motivation of this work is to clarify the problematic of butane transit, share knowledge and information, analyse the specific needs of stakeholders and specially to identify the errors. Our proposed approach is based on the analysis of surveys carried out with business leaders. The objective is to develop recommendations and an action plan to better organise the butane chain in relation to the disruptions associated to this activity.
