Abstract

With the increase in pollution level, everyone, i.e., government, producers or consumers, all are bound to work for sustainability. Sustainable production and consumption (SPC) is the utmost need of the nation to promote the concept of sustainable development. But, there are various barriers in the way of SPC. The aim of this research work is to find all these barriers in the way of SPC. In this work, by political, economic, social, and technological (PEST) analysis, 15 barriers towards SPC adoption has been found from literature survey and expert's input. Analytical hierarchy process (AHP) methodology has been applied to find the relative weights and rank all the barriers. Sensitivity analysis has been performed to check the robustness of the output obtained. This work will be very useful for government, policy makers, researchers, practitioners and managers in decision making to adopt SPC practices and will result in sustainable development.
