Abstract

Economic development in Asia has gained increasing attention around the world and has had an enormous impact on the growth of its logistics market. Though it is generally agreed that the logistics infrastructure in Asia is not advanced in comparison with its US and Western counterparts, the potential for logistics development is much greater in this region. Since the Asian market is expected to have significant growth in the long term, the role of logistics will be critical. This paper introduces the overall economic situations and developments in Asia, and discusses the major factors that will influence the logistics development in this region and the future trends in logistics.
