Common wisdom: cultivating logic and intuition in science education

Abstract

Integrating logic with intuition will guide scientific research in more sensible and efficient directions. Studies have suggested that morphogenesis cannot be explained by logical determinism alone but by a means of cellular communication involving a balance between logic and intuition (Goodwin and Webster, 1996). This paper proposes that we can better understand micro level cellular processes, and efficiently guide our research in morphogenesis, if we can facilitate our macro-level processes to involve both logic and intuition. An exercise is conducted combining intuitions from Curve Art with biological research, to guide a deeper and more sensible understanding of morphogenesis.
