Abstract

The literature on ERP is replete with stories of unsuccessful project outcomes. One of the issues that have attracted relatively little research is the level of firm's awareness about organisational problems that can occur in the course of the implementation process. The paper shares some insight into research aimed at identifying organisational requirements able to identify the organisational readiness of the firm to the ERP implementation process. A methodological tool is proposed to develop a prescriptive model firms can adopt in order to measure the level of organisational readiness. Results from three case studies are discussed. The proposed methodology is prescriptive in terms of business process reengineering and change management interventions needed on the basis of the firm's predisposition of its organisational and technical context.
