A systematic literature review on understanding the role of digital technologies in fostering supply chain flexibility

Abstract

This paper provides a systematic literature review (SLR) on supply chain flexibility (SCF), identifying its dimensions, associated theories and technology integration (TI). The study identifies 44 SCF dimensions and provides insight on how technologies are linked to those dimensions. Methodology includes RQ formulation, selection analysis and synthesis of studies. Findings underlines the key sectors in which the work has been done along with the prominent theories that have been applied and highlights that there is limited work done in Indian context on TI to support SCF. Inclusion/exclusion of studies based on specific criteria might lead to publication bias, which is a limitation of SLR. To best knowledge of the authors, a SLR extensively presenting TI to support SCF and what impact these technologies have on SCF has been done for the first time. The future scope outlines prospective areas of research in terms of TI, sustainability, and SCF aspects.
